at The Star Peak Cabin
Guiding
Principle: The ambience, solitude and recreation of back
country living are the principal of the protective covenants. Ultimate
privacy and seclusion are assured, with protected views up and down
the Castle Creek Valley, magnificent sunrises and sunsets, the sound
of Castle Creek, the varied flora and fauna of this high mountain
area, and the benefit of a variety of services available at the
Ashcroft Ski Touring and the Pine Creek Cookhouse. Star Peak Cabin
will be a gathering place for your family and friends.
Cabin
Design: Star Peak Cabin is a comfortable four bedroom,
four bath cabin of approximately 5,500 square feet. The rustically
elegant cabin has a great room with an open living/dining/kitchen
area, native stone fireplace, game room, library, formal and informal
dining areas, outdoor hot tub, well-equipped kitchen and large outside
decks overlooking two trout ponds.
Proximity
of Facilities: Hike, bike or cross-country ski from the
front door of the cabin to the new Pine Creek Cookhouse Ski on the
finest Nordic ski trails in North America Hike on the most scenic
and challenging trails in the Elk Mountain Range such as those to
Cathedral and American Lakes. Horseback ride the scenic trails of
Ashcroft Valley Fish the upper Castle Creek, beaver ponds and private
trout ponds.
The
following services will be available:
1.
Guide and Cabin Keeper: Upon arriving at the end
of Castle Creek Road, cabin guests will be met by a mountain guide
for the adventurous trip to the cabin, which is approximately 2
½ miles from the end of the plowed road. Guest may bring
their own skis/snowshoes or they will be provided equipment. Actual
arrival time will be agreed upon at the time of booking the cabin.
Guests luggage or those guests who do not wish to ski or snowshoe
will be transported to the cabin by snowcat or snowmobile.
2.
Maid Service: Maid service will be provided after your
stay and can be provided on request.
3.
Dining: The cuisine at Star Peak Cabin is best
described as Mountain Gourmet. The Cabin Keeper will arrange menus
with the guests prior to arrival. As an alternative, lunch or dinner
can be arranged at the nearby Pine Creek Cookhouse. During your
visit, hors d'oeuvres featuring caviar, smoked trout and duck, and
a variety of cheeses will be served before the main meals. The house
dinner specialty might be wild game combinations of Elk and Salmon
and fresh herbs. Signature desserts include wild berry cobbler or
chocolate brownie. An extensive wine list and well-stocked bar provide
perfect accompaniment to the meal after a full day of physical activity,
romantic seclusion, or both.
After a hearty
breakfast, you can choose from adventurous opportunities that are
literally right outside your door. You can go any direction from
the Cabin on foot, horseback, bike, ski or snowshoe. Other nearby
adventure opportunities include: golf, river rafting, rock climbing
and hot-air ballooning.
4.
Winter On-site Transportation: To maintain a quality
skiing experience and to minimize impact on the valley in the winter,
motorized access to the cabin is limited to snowmobile and snowcat.
This service will be performed by the Cabin Keeper. The main county
road and trails will be groomed for winter access to the cabin.
5.
Emergency Services: Ashcroft Ski Touring provides
emergency services in the Upper Castle Creek Valley to Star Peak
Cabin. Ashcroft Ski Touring operates under an Avalanche and Emergency
Rescue Plan devised specifically relating to the Ashcroft Ski Touring
and Star Peak Cabin area. |
